The Junior Class 3200m State Record holder, and current NC Flo50 #1 Cameron Ponder has announced his college commitment to Furman University!  Ponder told us at Wendy's he was narrowed down to Stanford, Furman, Ole Miss and Wake Forest before ultimately choosing Furman after returning from his final official visit.

Ponder said, "Just being on campus and being around the coaches and guys it felt like a family. I felt that it was the best place for me to excel in the classroom, on the course, and as a person. I want to win National Championships and Furman has all of the resources and tools to do so."

The Furman men are currently ranked at #9 in the country according to FloTrack after a 5th place finish at Wisco.

Ponder holds outstanding PRs on the track of 4:10.00 for the 1600 and 8:56.49 for the 3200.  He took 3rd place at Penn Relays in the Mile last season as a junior.  Ponder has had a great start to the XC season, but we don't think we've seen the best out of him yet.  Recently Ponder has defended his Wendy's Invitational title and finished as runner-up at the historic Manhattan Invitational.

Ponder will race this weekend at the 3A Midwest regional before looking to win a NCHSAA 3A XC title the following weekend.
