New Balance Nationals Outdoor - Ohio Recap

           Olentangy Orange's Allison Guagenti took 7th place in the 2000m Steeplechase event.   


Athletes from Ohio posted many notable results at the recent New Balance Nationals Outdoor meet that was held in Greensboro, North Carolina at NC A & T State University.  Found below is a summary of some of the highlights from representatives of the 'Buckeye State.' 


Girls: 

200m - 

Abby Steiner - Dublin Coffman High School - 3rd place - 23.81 

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and in a tie for 22nd in the country from a previous result this season (23.56) 


           Abby Steiner (right) finished 3rd in the 200m event at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.  


800m & 1 Mile (1 Mile - Emerging Elite Division) - 

Gia Napoleon - Thomas Worthington High School - 800m - 6th place - 2:08.94 - 1 Mile - 10th place - 4:59.61

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 10th in the country in the 800m event from a previous result this season (2:07.47)

* Ranked 1st in Ohio in the 1 Mile event - this does not include converted 1600m times.  


           Gia Napoleon posted a pair of impressive results at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 


2000m Steeplechase - 

Allison Guagenti - Olentangy Orange High School - 7th place - 6:58.06 - Ohio #1 / U.S. #12 


           Olentangy Orange's Allison Guagenti is the top ranked 2000m Steeplechase athlete in Ohio. 


Boys: 

1 Mile - 

Matt Stump - Medina High School - 7th place - 4:21.63 - Ohio #3 

Gabe Szalay - Wadsworth High School - 8th place - 4:22.96 - Ohio #4 

Jacob Keating - Lake Catholic High School - 9th place - 4:24.07 - Ohio #5 

* Rankings do not include converted 1600m times.   


1 Mile (Emerging Elite Division) - 

Cole Lovett - Carrollton High School - 15th place - 4:25.38 - Ohio #6 

* Ranking does not include converted 1600m times.   


           Medina's Matt Stump finished 7th in the 1 Mile race at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 


           Wadsworth's Gabe Szalay finished 8th in the 1 Mile race at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 


           Jacob Keating finished 9th in the 1 Mile race at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.


           Carrollton High School's Cole Lovett is ranked 6th in Ohio in the 1 Mile event.  


Pole Vault - 

Austin Goolsby - Hillsboro High School - tie for 8th place - 15-03.50 

* Ranked 2nd in Ohio and in a tie for 34th in the country from a previous result this season (16-0) 


           Hillsboro High School's Austin Goolsby is the 2nd ranked Pole Vault athlete in Ohio.  


High Jump - 

Albert Kalala - Withrow High School - 7th place - 6-08.25 

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and in a tie for 14th in the country from a previous result this season (7-0) 


           Withrow High School's Albert Kalala is the top ranked High Jump athlete in Ohio.  


800m - 

Malachi McGill - Hilliard Darby High School - 13th place - 1:53.80 

* Ranked 2nd in Ohio from a previous result this season (1:52.80) 


           Hilliard Darby High School's Malachi McGill is the 2nd ranked 800m runner in Ohio.   


2000m Steeplechase - 

Ben Ewert - Beavercreek High School - 3rd place - 6:01.09 

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 3rd in the country from a previous result this season (5:58.89) 


           Beavercreek's Ben Ewert (#6) is the top ranked 2000m Steeplechase athlete in Ohio.


5000m - 

Hunter Moore - Olentangy Orange High School - 4th place - 14:44.46 - Ohio #1 / U.S. #13 


           Olentangy Orange High School's Hunter Moore is the top ranked 5000m runner in the state.
