Key Returners

Eric Vanderford

Nat Romaine

Chapel Hill lose three of their top five but you can hardly tell.  Last year Chapel Hill proved that they had one of the deepest programs in the state.  Last season their 1-5 gap was 17 seconds and this year they will have a similar squad despite losing three guys.  If you ever watched a JV race from last season it was always domination by Chapel Hill.  They return 7 boys under 17:30 this season. Last track season the put 13 boys under the 5 minute mark for 1600.

Eric Vanderford, Nat Romaine, and Silas Buckner should lead the charge this season for the Tigers.  Romaine recently raced at the App State Team Camp and looked to be in very good form heading into the 2016 season.  Silas Buckner had a really strong track season running 4:29, 20 seconds better than in the 2015 season. He was not in the top 7 last year as the season came to a close and should be a big help for the Tigers this fall. Eric Vanderford was 21st at the 3A State XC Championships last fall and will look to push into the top 10 this year.

Looking into the depth of Chapel Hill they have a number of guys who will battle for a top 7 spot.  Ryan Combs, Eli Turner, Agustin Fiorito and Ben Campbell return in the top 7 for the Tigers.  Campbell had a strong track season running 4:40 ranking 3rd on this Chapel Hill team last spring.  Tyler Yandrofski made the biggest jump this track season where he ran 4:43 and should make a significant dent in his 5K PR this fall.  James Clabo and Jacob Meredith-Andrews were just freshman last season and could develop well over this summers training.  This is a tough top 7 to predict and are favorites to win the NCHSAA 3A State Title this fall.
