Lovelace qualifies for nationals, three from state win titles

Chapin senior Luke Lovelace improved on his 2006 ninth place Foot Locker South finish Saturday at the 2007 meet in Charlotte, placing fifth in 15 minutes, 4 seconds.

Fort Mill eighth grade runner Mark Blackmon, 2007 Class AAAA state champion in cross country, sealed the victory in the final race of the day, the 3,000-meter 13-14 race. In the boys sophomore event, Dorman's Brandon Easler, second to Blackmon at the Nov. 3 state meet, came home with the win.

Spartanburg seventh grade runner Evie Tate sealed a win in the girls 11-12 3,000-meter run in 11 minutes, 46 seconds, 13 seconds ahead of Caroline Jennings, also from South Carolina.

Tate placed ninth in the Class AAAA girls state meet on Nov. 3.
