She\'s Back! Adrianne Soo Blasts Durham Championships

Adrianne Soo and Michelle Lutz matched up on the tough Durham Academy course to see who was tops in the area. Michelle has been the most dominant NC girl so far this year, but Soo was the fastest in the state last year. Soo took this one with a new course record, 18:23.

Lutz had broken Kate Merrill's course record previously at the Durham Academy Invitational, running 18:45. Michelle did run faster at the championships, 18:44, but it wasn't enough to defeat DA's Adrianne Soo on this day.

Soo is still working herself into shape, and looks to be doing that very well. With this performance, Soo is on track to give the Foot Locker South a solid run. Last year she clocked a 17:56 while finishing 16th overall.

The Durham School of Arts girl's team took the overall title. They are currently ranked #2 in the 2A classification, behind Cardinal Gibbons. The DSA girls ran 20:45, 21:01, 21:07, 21:42, 21:53.

In the boy's event, freshman Blake Williams of Northern Durham won the event with a time of 17:17. Cam Cook of NCSSM wasn't far behind as he finished 2nd in 17:19.

The Durham Academy boys won the meet with a very low score of 35 points. Last year's defending champs, NCSSM, finished 3rd. Jordan's boys took 2nd place and were led by Chris Barron's 4th place.

Durham Academy's top 6 ran 17:43, 17:50, 17:56, 18:03, 18:10, 18:16.
