Jim Spier's just released his "top juniors" list. This list is a listing of the top returning Junior athletes in the United States. Some of North Carolina's finest athletes found themselves at the top of the lists thanks to stellar performances during the 2006 track season.
Gabby Mayo (Southeast Raleigh) - leads the list in both the 100m and 200m with times of 11.16 and 22.88 respectively. She is also ranked among the best in the 100h with a time of 13.60.
LaMarr Davis (East Wake) - has the 2nd fastest returning time in the 800m of 1:50.58
Kamorean Hayes (Harding) - has the #1 shot put throw of 52-2, almost 3 full feet further than #2. She also has a top discus throw of 158-2.
Patience Coleman (Southern Durham) - #1 returning high jumper among Junior athletes as she cleared 6' last season
Johnny Dutch (Clayton) - is ranked in both the 110h and the 400h with times of 13.54 and 51.72
College Athletes
The following athletes attend NC colleges but did not attend NC high schools. However, we must cheer for them since they represent NC now!
Aaron Kauffman (Charlotte) - ranked in the 800 with a 1:51.24
Donte Hall (North Carolina) - has a jump of 7 feet in the high jump
Caitlin Chrisman (Wake Forest) - is ranked highly in the 5000m with a time of 16:41.59
Bona Jones (NC State) - also is ranked in the 5000m with a time of 16:42.63
