This past weekend, some of North Carolina's top athletes competed at the Liberty High School Christmas Invitational. Athletes from Providence HS, RJ Reynolds, Burlington Cummings, Ben L. Smith, Polk County, and Forsyth Country Day all performed well.

Girls & Boys 55m Dash

In the girl's race, NC took 5 of the top 6 places.

Gabrielle Glenn of Providence HS, who was 2nd in the 100m, 200m, & 400m at last year's 4A state meet, started this year out on a high note. She won the 55m easily, running 7.13. Her time moves her in a tie for 9th on the All-Time NC list.

Greensboro Smith's sprinters, Sirrell Butler & Allegra Seegars, finished in 2nd & 4th respectively, running 17.4 & 17.45. Allegra finished 8th last year in the 4A meet 100m and 7th in the 200m. Splitting them was Southern Durham's Jacinda Evans with a time of 17.42.

Girls & Boys 55m Hurdles

R.J. Reynolds showed they are going to be tough in the hurdles this year as Charloton Rolle and Korel Mack went 1, 2 in the boy's race. Charlton's time of 7.43 ties him for 11th on the All-Time NC list. Austin Davis of Northern Durham also finished 3rd with a time of 7.86.

In the girl's race, R.J. Reynolds girls finished 3rd and 4th. Joanna Wright & Shanice Jones only placed behind 2 other female athletes from NC.
