Hill sprints into N.C. Record Books

As Hickory High junior Ryan Hill crossed the finish line at McAlpine Park on Saturday, he raised his hands in jubilation.

He had accomplished what only one other boy from North Carolina had done in 28 years.

Hill, the two-time N.C. 3A cross country champ, won the Foot Locker South Regional title with a blistering kick over the final 250 meters to become only the second North Carolina boy to win since the meet began in 1979. Orange High's Bradsher Wilkins won in 1998 and 1997.
