SATURDAY: Easton sophomore Chanelle Price simply took the 800 from all her competitors in the final heat. She lead through the 400, kept the hammer down, and with about 125 meters to go, her acceleration into the final turn put the entire field away. Her 2:07.71 is a US#1. Having been shifted from the third-from-last to next-to-last heat leading up to the meet, West Catholic senior Latavia Thomas dominated her heat, running a 2:09.40, a time that held up for 6th, and the final all-American award. Central Dauphin's Andrew Rotz pulled off the same thing, running 1:51.91 in the next-to-last heat to take the 6th spot. He was 2nd in his heat. Only two guys from the final heat made the top six. PA's top seed in the event, Aaron Kauffman of Red Land, ran 1:53.85. Pennsylvania's super sophomore Ryann Krais had a busy, and very successful day. Getting off to a controlled start and spotting the best in the country a few meters in the 400 Hurdles, she closed strong over the final three hurdles to run a PR 59.64 and take 3rd. Running back and forth between the Long Jump and clerking in for the finals of the 100 Hurdles, she managed a Long Jump of 18-08.50. The mark ended up just half-an-inch from 6th. In the finals of the 100 Hurdles, Krais ran 14.50 for 7th. And in the 4x400, her final event of the day, she split 55.7 to bring her team to a 4:00.97. The Harrisburg girls ran 3:57./89. In the final of the 200, Laurel Highland's Breehana Jacobs finished 6th to add another all-American honor to her resume, going 24.13. Simon Gratz captured their 2nd all-American relay with a 3rd place finish in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay, going 1:30.91. A bad hand-off in the finals of the 4x400 cost them. They ran 3:17.49. They finished 8th in the 4x100 finals, running 43.21. In the field, Pennsylvania started the day on Saturday as it had on Friday, taking a few spots in the Javelin. Central Dauphin freshman Justin Shirk would finish 5th with a throw of 196-03, while fellow Mid-Penn Conference athlete, John Austin of Cumberland Valley, a junior, threw 192-05 for 4th. In the Discus, senior Natalie Clickett of Union City would take 4th with a throw of 151-00. Other performances of note included Conestoga in the DMR, running 12:06.99 for 13th. Chichester's Carrington Queen and Harrisburg's Delon Isom finished 7th and 8th, respectively in the finals of the 110 Hurdles, going 1423. and 14.44. In the next-to-last heat of the Mile, Unionville's Paul Springer pushed the pace and paid a small price, finishing in 4:14.99, good for 13th overall.

Friday PA Performances

Conestoga 3rd in the 4x800.

FRIDAY:It was a day where PA dominated two FIELD EVENTS and made strong showings on the track. With so many girls in the Javelin, some high finishes were expected, but it's never a given. And the battle seemed to be between state champ and record-holder Karlee McQuillen of Westmont Hilltop and Lorraine Hill of Chambersburg, Entering the finals, McQuillen had a 1 centimeter lead on Hill. But Brieanna Kennedy popped 150-00 on her final throw and left it to Hill and McQuillen to see what they could do. McQuillen responded with a throw of 150-01 for the win. Also getting all-American status were 2005 NON champ Meghan Briggs of Palmyra was 5th (140-02), and William Allen freshman Amber Troxell was 6th (136-07). In the Shot Put, Allyn Laughlin, Center, was 2nd with her 50-04 and Karen Shump, Penncrest, was 5th with a throw of 44-02.50. Central Mountain sophomore Kristin Brandt went 37-01.25. Hannon cleared 5-05 to finisht 13th in the High Jump.
