Alexis, from Jordan High, led the state in the high jump (5' 8.5") and long jump (19' 5.75"). Shemiah, from Southwest Guilford, was the top triple-jumper (40' 4.75") and also a great long-jumper (18' 11", 4th overall). Hailey, from Hendersonville, was the best all-around thrower in the state, finishing second overall in both the shot (43' 8.25") and the discus (137' 2"). Sydney, from East Forsyth, rewrote the all-time state records in the pole vault with her current best of 13' 3.5", earning two state titles in the process.

This could be looked at from two angles. If you look at someone who competes very well in multiple events, then I would vote for Shemiah or Alexis. (Probably lead toward the latter a little.) If it's just one single event (as it states in the title of the discussion), then it has to be Sydney.

@wneagle It seems the public agrees with you so far! I actually meant to leave it open for interpretation, and if we only considered single-event athletes, then two more should have been in the poll (Brianna Tate and Breanna Warren, individual state leaders in the shot and discus, respectively). So, people can vote whichever way they want to look at it!

I think the best Athlete as harass jumpers goes is Shemiah Brooks hands down! No need to elaborate!

@ndanielsxl Really?! I love Shemiah more than most; however she has one big drawback that she must take care of before she can compete well in the ACC -- she has to become more consistent at her top end. I have seen her (talked to her!) when she really didn't want to jump and her performance showed that she didn't. If she does not develope the consistent want to be the best and the confidence (even arrogance) that she can outjump everyone everyday, we may soon forget she exists way down there in Clemson.
