A lot has been going over the last 2 weekends and the polls reflect it. Again, first place votes are in parenthesis. You'll notice that a few classifications have very tight first place races. States should be interesting! Also new this week, you will see the point totals next to each team. If you're planning to head to McAlpine Park this weekend, be ready for crowds. There are teams from 6 states converging on Charlotte to throw down some fast times. **UPDATE: Check here for the team race assignments.
Some big meets headline the action in North Carolina this weekend. With the forecast on Saturday calling for rain in the Western part of the state, weather may be a factor for some of the meets. Invitationals being held in North Carolina this weekend are: High County Classic (Hosted by Watauga High School) Greensboro Cross Country Invitational East Carolina Invitational Also there are a couple North Carolina teams heading up to Virginia to participate in the McDonald’s Maymont Invitational.
There were some major Invitationals this past weekend. A number of teams are jumping into the rankings that haven't been there yet. There are also teams who made big jumps with their stellar racing over the weekend. New this week: Instead of an asterisk, you will see the number of 1st place votes in parenthesis.

Despite the Seahawk Invitational, the Campbell Invitational, and then the Hurricane Hanna Invitational being cancelled, NC teams traveled to SC for some much needed competition. The Eye Opener meet, held in Spartanburg, is traditionally a solid meet with some great out-of-state competition. This year's meet was no exception. A few teams from the Charlotte (and surrounding) area made a short trip to Northwestern HS in Rock Hill for the Trojan Invitational. Thanks to Northwestern HS for being so accommodating. With the Seahawk Invite being cancelled and two other hurricanes brewing in the Atlantic, Northwest Guilford HS is hosting a free meet at Hagan Stone Park. [Updated: September 5th 5:51]: The Hurricane Hanna invitational has been cancelled due to the hurricane traveling inland.
NCRunner's just received an email from the Seahawk Invite meet director announcing that the meet at Wilmington this Saturday was cancelled. Entry fees will be mailed back early next week.
Huge thanks to the record number of coaches who voted during the past few days! There are some really tight races throughout all the classifications, with teams flip-flopping with one another right to the last voter. The #1 spot in a few classifications wasn't determined until the end.
