Thursday Summary:  Matt Mizereck, FL, used a strong last lap to close out victory in the boys 5000 with a winning time of 14:37.17 (Interview).  Katherine Walker, VA, won the 5000 with a strong move late in the race to hold off frosh Wesley Frazier, NC, 16:57.58 to 16:59.19. The New Balance Nationals kicks off tonight with Emerging elite races and field events as well as a Freshman Mile.  The Championship 5000's go off at 8pm Eastern.  Stay tuned all weekend for the latest updates, photos, and videos!  Three boys in the freshman mile broke the freshman meet record.  Samuel Prakel, Versailles OH, ran a 4:17.46 for the win.  Jake Leingang, Bismarck ND, took 2nd in 4:20.72 and Trevor Gilley, Carroll TX, finished 3rd in 4:22.25.

Friday Summary: Hot girls 4x800 on now!  Fayetteville-Manlius and Garden City going at it, anchor leg!  Fayetteville-Manlius, NY, rolled to a US#2 All-Time 4x800 with the win in 8:46.98!  Garden City, NY, was 2nd in US#3 All-Time 8:47.90, while Bronxville, NY, was 3rd in 8:53.59.

Hamden CT rolled to a US#1 7:35.68 to win the boys 4x800 behind an incredible 1:47.15 split from Chris FitzSimons!!  Gonzaga, DC, won the first boys heat in a quick 7:42.  Frosh Kendell Williams, GA, rolled to a strong victory in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.71.  Eddie Lovett, FL, won the boys 110 hurdles with a time of 13.61.  64 for Verzbicas through 1 lap, 2:07.57 for 800, 3:12 through 3 laps!  4:17 for the Mile for Lukas!  68 for 5th lap, 69 for 6th lap as Rosa's overtake Lukas, 63 for Joe Rosa on 7th lap!!  Joe Rosa, NJ, new Junior Class Record of 8:44.06!  Jim Rosa, NJ, was 2nd in 8:51.46.  Wade Meddles, NV, was 3rd in 8:52.87 (Photo by John Olson)Megan Goethals isn't fooling around, charging out to a 71 first lap, 74 second lap, 77 third lap, 77 4th lap, for 5:03 first Mile!  77 5th lap, 77 6th lap, 8:55 with one lap to go!  10:01.16 for Goethals, just off National Record!  Aisling Cuffe, NY, 2nd as she smashed junior class record with a time of 10:02.49!  KP Athletics won the boys 1600 medley relay with a time of 3:22.99 while Shore AC won the girls race in 3:52.74 behind an amazing 2:00.59 FAT 800 split from anchor Ajee Wilson for US#4 All-Time!!  McDonogh girls squeaked under a minute in the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay by running 59.59.  The Pioneer boys won the 110 shuttle hurdle in 59.15.  Bishop Hartley girls won the 4x200 meter relay in 1:37.93 for a US#7 and Track Eastern took the boys race in 1:27.48.  Kaleb Zuidema Midland Park NJ, threw the Javelin 211-10 for the win.  Zuidema holds the US#4 spot with a 224-1 throw.  Octavious Freeman, Lake Wales Fl, won the 100 dash in 11.27, also matching her meet record prelim time.  Sean McLean, Raleigh NC, won the boys 100 dash with a time of 10.41.   Jennifer Halloran, Bay Shore NY, broke the junior record in the 1 Mile Race Walk with a winning time of 7:35.01.  Suzy Farber, Northport NY, broke the freshman record in 7:46.44 for a third place finish.  Evan Vincent, Manchester ME, won the boys 1 Mile Race Walk with a time of 7:10.50.  A'Lexus Brannon, Port Arthur TX, won the girls triple jump with a PR of 42-03.50 and a US#3.  Alex Faldermeyer, New Hampton NY, won the boys hammer throw with a new PR of 240-08, for US#7 All-Time.  Alex Thompson, IL, won the boys discus with a toss of 192-08.  Morgann LeLeux, LA, won the girls pole vault with a leap of 13-04.25.  Marquis Dendy, DE, lept out 52-07.25 to take the national title in the boys triple jump for a new US#1!  Tori Bliss, IN, won the girls shot put with a time of 48-00.75.

Hamden CT won the boys DMR behind another heroic effort from Chris FitzSimons, (Photo by Victah Sailer) finishing in a time of 9:56.50 with a 4:05.70 anchor leg a day after his 1:47.15!  Warwick Valley was 2nd in 9:59.03 to edge West Windsor Plainsboro North, 9:59.07.  Benjamin Cardozo outlasted Columbia in the girls 4x400 with blazing times of 3:40.65 to 3:40.97.  The fastest split was 53.47 for Chamique Francis (Cardozo).  Newburgh Elite held off the charge of Cheltenham TC to win the boys 4x400 in 3:13.40 to 3:14.18.  The fastest boys split belonged to Matt Gilmore (Cheltenham), 46.22!

 

Kinetic TC (Saratoga Springs NY) won the girls 4xMile with a dominating 20:04.34 for the 3rd fastest time in history!  Kinetic built their lead throughout all four legs on the way to victory.  Haddonfield NJ won the boys 4xMile in 17:20.21 with solid legs around but also a smart anchor leg and last lap kick from Jon Vitez.  Cornwall NY won the unseeded section of the girls DMR with a time of 11:51.77 behind an amazing 4:48.74 anchor for Aisling Cuffe, who ran 10:02.49 for 2nd in the 2 Mile last night!  Pioneer TC won the boys unseeded DMR with a time of 10:15.09.  Columbia NJ won the girs 800 Medley with a US#4 All-Time performance of 1:41.98!  Newburgh Elite wonthe boys 800 Medley with a time of 1:30.76 to outlast Pole John XXIII, 1:30.84.  Mary Kate Anselmini, NY, won the 2000 Steeplechase and improved her US#1 time with a clocking of 6:42.78.  Hannah Carson, AZ, won the javelin throw with a toss of 160-04.  Alex Deir won the 2000 Steeplechase with a time of 5:53.02.  Daina Levy won the girls Hammer Throw with a toss of 174-09 over Throw1Deep teammate Shelby Ashe, 170-03.  Garden City won the emerging elite girls 4x400 with a meet record time of 3:53.84.  Mark Jones won a tight boys high jump competition with a clearance of 6-10.75.  Justin Fondren was 2nd, also over 6-10.75.  Carlton Lavong traded championships with Marquis Dendy, taking him in the long jump with a leap of 24-08.25.  Dendy was 2nd in 24-02.50.  Kendell Williams added to her 100H victory by storming to victory in the 400H with a time of 59.01 for US#2.  Cornlius Savage won the boys 400H from the first heat with a time of 51.85 to narrowly edge Javonte Lipsey, 51.86!  Columbia girls won the 4x100 relay with a blazing 45.89 while Triangle Legacy rolled in the boys race with a winning time of 41.16.  Claudia Francis, NY, won the girls 800 run with a time of 2:07.30.  Sean Krinik, CA, used a lethal kick to win the boys race over the final 150 meters with a time of 1:49.57.  Briana Nelson, SC, won the girls 400 meter dash with a last meter surge 53.14 to 53.20 over Chamique Francis, NY.  Emily Lipari, NY, used her patented late race surge to move into the lead of the girls Mile with 150 meters to go to win in 4:48.20 with a 62s last quarter!  The boys race started out pedestrian as well, giving the first heat a shot at it.  But Alex Hatz, (photo left courtesy of Victah Sailor)  NY, rolled the last 300 meters to take the win in 4:08.09.  Elias Gedyon, CA, was 2nd in 4:08.42 and Omar Kaddurah, MI, was 3rd in 4:08.50.  Octavious Freeman, FL, won her 2nd title of the weekend with a 23.24 to win the 200 dash.  Alex Collatz, CA, won the girls discus with a toss of 161-00.  Jermaine Brown won the boys 200 with a late surge to win in 21.10.  Davis Fraker won the boys shot put in style with a 68-06 heave.  Paul Malquist won the boys pole vault with a clearance of 16-08.  Moira Cronin won the girls high jump with a leap of 5-08.75.  A'Lexus Brannon adds the long jump to her earlier triple jump victory with a winning leap of 20-00.25.   MileSplit.us will be there all day to bring you the action as it happens for the final day of this year's New Balance Championships.  Stay tuned!
