Six Impressions From Providence Invitational

Carmen Alder Is Dominant

Last year Carmen Alder debuted in 18:33 winning the Providence Invitational.  This year she came back in just as dominant fashion clocking 18:26.  Alder had a late track season running through the USATF National JO Championships in the 1500m and 3000m.  Alder said after that she took a little down time, but got back to training pretty quickly afterwards.  Alder ran 18:26 on only about three or four weeks of cross country specific training.

Of course we knew Alder was going to be a monster again this year.  This start shows she'll be capable of a much faster time by seasons end.  This was a solo effort after dropping 2nd place finisher Ainsley Cooper just after the mile mark.  Alder will race Friday Night Lights and adidas XC Challenge next.
