Sean Dolan Comes Back from 4x800m to Win Mile at NBNO

On Sunday Sean Dolan of Hopewell Valley took home the New Balance Nationals Outdoor boys mile championship when he ran a time of 4:12.22. The junior was coming off a a big 1:49.82 anchor leg the night before when his team finished sixth for All-American status in the championship 4x800m running 7:41.84.

The Hopewell Valley star was fourth midway through the mile race, at three quarters of a mile the split was at 3:12 with Dolan in second. Just before the last turn off the backstretch Dolan made his move for first and never looked back gaining separation with a strong final push to the line.

Dolan's best in the open mile is a 4:08.86 which he ran this past May to finish second at the adidas Boost Boston Games. He's had a great junior season which also included a Group 3 NJSIAA state title and a second place Meet of Champions finish in the 800m where he ran 1:50.74. He was only behind the National Champion Luis Peralta in that MOCs race. Back in April at Penn Relays Dolan also posted a monster 4:07.57 to anchor their winning DMR to a time of 9:57.77.
