Boys Sprints and Hurdles

100 meter

Isai'as Robinson (Overhills) has not lost to another 4A runner in the 100 meter this year, and he enters Saturday with the fastest time of the season at 10.53. Just behind him in the rankings, however, is Rondell Terry. Terry clocked a 10.55 this season and was victorious over Robinson in the 55-meter at Indoor States this winter. Robinson took down Terry at the Apex Lions' Relays in April, but both seem primed for a fast race after clocking the fastest two regional times. Van Gupton (Rolesville) will also be a runner to watch after clocking a 10.70 at the East regional to finish second behind Terry. Khafre Brown (West Mecklenburg) and Jaylen Coleman (Porter Ridge) were also under 10.80 at the regionals, with Cameron Rose (Hickory Ridge) right at 10.8.

200 meter

Randolph Ross (Garner) comes in with the top 200-meter time this year as well as the top time from any regional at 21.59 and will be the man to beat in the 200 meter. Romell McRae (Southeast Raleigh) wasn't far behind at 21.62 to finish second in the East regional. Also expect Khafre Brown and Cameron Rose again figure to play a major role in the final standings after clocking solid times this weekend at regionals.

Wheelchair 100/200 meter

Ladale Gambrell (Broughton) is the only competitor in both of these events, and with regional times of 22.34/47.96 he showed that he has the fitness to PR in both events. The 22.34 stand as his PR, but he will need to shave off more than a tenth of a second in the 200 to set his new record.

400 meter

The East regional was blazing as Randolph Ross and Reece Moulton (Hoggard) ran two of the three fastest FAT times this season. Ross won in 47.58, while Moulton clocked 48.71 for second. Jalen Herring (Middle Creek) and Anthony Morgan (Grimsley) also won their regionals and find themselves in the top four of the standings. Neither Kayin Fails (Cary) nor Kobe Barnes (Wakefield) ran their fastest times at regionals, but both have proved that they have sub 49 speed this season and will vie for a podium spot.

110mH

The two fastest times of the year came at the Midwest regional where D'Andre Hayes (Northwest Guilford) and Mekhi Dunlap (R.J. Reynolds) went 1-2 with times of 14.36 and 14.37. Jeffrey Blake (Mooresville) will be competing for the win as well after claiming victory at the West regional. Bryce Anthony (Ragsdale) leads a slew of other sub-15 runners who will be in the mix for a podium spot.

300mH

Bryce Anthony (Ragsdale) leads the field in the longer hurdle event after clocking a 38.24 earlier in March, but he showed that he is as sharp as ever in May after running the fastest time in any regional by a quarter of a second. Jabari Dalton (South Mecklenburg) showed he is coming into top form at the right time by running the second fastest time of the year while winning the West regional. Caleb McMillan (Hough) fell behind Asa Simmons (Ardrey Kell) at the West regional, but has clocked a 38.85 this season, and he and Simmons will threaten for the front of the race. Dexter McDuffie (South Central) looked sharp at the East regional with his victory and Devine Drummond (Independence) finished second at Midwest and will be in the mix as well come Saturday.
