Girls #CountdownToXC Day 6: Claremont

It's not often that you see a team win the state title and lose three seniors from that top 7, but still have enough firepower returning to contend again the following year. That's the case for the Claremont girls, whose depth should allow them to reload rather than rebuild in 2017. Sydney Hwang is a star in the making, having added to her resume with a 10:46 3200 this spring, and behind her the next 5 members of the Wolfpack are separated by only 14 seconds. Speaking of track improvement: returning #5 runner Azalea Segura-Mora ran 11:31, which should move her up the depth chart this fall (and push the runners around her in the process). This team has been very good at year-to-year improvement over the last 3 years, and I'm betting that trend continues with the addition of more depth and the progression of young runners. With just their current returners, the Wolfpack is good enough to make the state meet; with one more addition to the top 7, they could be a podium team once again in Division 2.
