Boys #CountdownToXC Day 16: La Costa Canyon

I feel like the La Costa Canyon boys' program doesn't get quite as much respect as it deserves, possibly because the girls' team is so strong. The Mavericks also don't rate well in our returning rankings, because they had 3 seniors in their top 7 last year - however, only one was in the top 5, along with three sophomores. But they DO have a very strong track record of year-to-year improvement, especially over the last three seasons, and they DID have solid team 1600 and 3200 times during the spring. Those two things suggest that this squad won't have much trouble rebuilding depth. LCC finished 5th in Division 3 last November, and they won a San Diego Section title for the second straight year (defeating eventual state champ Cathedral Catholic in that race). The Stanford brothers are budding stars up front, especially after Jacob clocked 4:18 this spring, and if they can fill spots 5-7 with solid runners another section title and top 5 at the state meet are not out of the question for the 2017 Mavericks.
