Boys' 300 Hurdles
As the top four boys came two by down the last 100 meters of the 300-meter hurdles. Ben Shelley (Marvin Ridge) and Jalen Martin (Concord) battled each other for third, with Shelley barely edging Martin to pick up the bronze spot. Cory Gaither (South Iredell) and Jacobi Lloyd (Jacksonville) were just ahead, scrapping for the top spot on the podium.
Gaither charged over the last three hurdles to pull even with Lloyd, and then stumbled and dove across the finish line side-by-side with the Jacksonville senior. But the high-speed camera showed that Lloyd got his chest across first as the two posted the only sub-38 marks in 3A this season, going 37.95 and 37.97.
