Jayhlen Washington Posts 3 New NC#1 Marks And An Indoor State Record At Eastern Challenge!

Jayhlen Washington 55mH 7.36, Triple Jump 47-1, Long Jump 24-7.5 All NC#1 Marks!

Jayhlen Washington (North Brunswick) had a career day at the Eastern High School Challenge as he won Triple Jump, Long Jump and the 55m Hurdles!  Even more impressive is that his mark of 7.36 in the 55mH was good for NC#1 US#2, Triple Jump of 47-1 was a NC#1, US#11 and Long Jump of 24-7.5 was good for NC#1, US#1 and an ALL-TIME Indoor State Record!

The previous best was a mark held be Marcus O'Neal (Dudley, 1997) and Jarrett Samuals (Evelyn Mack Academy, 2011) who both jumped 24-7.25.  It was just a quarter of an inch that placed Washington ahead of O'Neal and Mack, but it certainly means much more!

All-Time List for Indoor Long Jump

I've input all of North Carolina's Indoor All-Time list for the boys Long Jump into our system, they'll show up once our system processes them under the meets "Archived NC Indoor Performances" for each year the records were set. Thanks to NCPrepTrack.org for keeping the all-time list accurate!

In an interview with Washington at the VA Showcase (below) he stated he wanted to sweep the 55mH, LJ and TJ at the NCHSAA 1A/2A State Championships.  Last year he won the Long and Triple Jump, but took 3rd in the Hurdles.  He will enter the NCHSAA State Championships as a heavy favorite in all three events. We will look forward to the state meet in two weeks where Washington will look to improve on his current Indoor State Record Long Jump.
