Southeast Raleigh to be without a track until May!

Over the last few years Southeast Raleigh has established themselves as a national powerhouse in the sprints, hurdles and field events.  They've recently been dominant in North Carolina winning the NCHSAA 4A Indoor and Outdoor State Championships in 2016.

As indoor track training is in full force, Southeast Raleigh has had their track torn up and the WCPSS has told them they will rebuild the track in April or May of 2017.  Until the new track is resurfaced WCPSs told the Southeast Raleigh Athletic Director to "find a place to practice" without any recommendation on coming to a solution.

Wake County have previously stated they "provide the most comprehensive educational/athletic opportunities in North Carolina."  So why is the opportunity not being given to the SE Raleigh Track program to have an alternative facility to practice on daily?  And why was the facility torn up when it isn't going replaced for 6 months?

The issue isn't with the track being taken away, as the track facilities are being upgrade, but it is the lack of an alternative facility for the team to practice on.  The athletes on the Southeast Raleigh program are some of the hardest working athletes in North Carolina track and field, and have proved it on and off the track.
