Boys 4A Mideast Region
Teams to Watch
The Broughton boys have shown that they are prepared to once again claim the 4A throne. With a returning state champion on their team and and their next six runners all in the region's top 10, it would take a major upset to top these guys. Green Hope and Apex should also show respectable performances within the Mideast. Apex is returning a strong top 4, but to overtake Green Hope for a regional runner-up finish their fifth runner's improvement will be crucial in jockeying for points.
Athletes to Watch
Jeremy Brown of Broughton already has a cross country state title under his belt, and his sub-15 minute time sets him even further ahead of the competition. Brown is nearly guaranteed to take home the regional title, and it would be a big surprise to see anyone other than him take the state title. Second place in the Mideast region could come from nearly anyone in the region's top 10. Robert Simmons (Broughton) and Tucker Cera (Millbrook) have both posted times just barely below the 16 minute mark, but neither can be guaranteed runner-up with the number of guys behind them who are on the cusp of making their way into the fifteens. If you're looking for candidates to make the leap into the top 5, keep your eye on Henry Pehr (Green Hope) and Ben Savino (Apex), who both ran bigger times on the track than their returning 5K PR's would suggest.
