Assumption Wins Great American, Peeples 2nd 17:57; St. X 2nd in Boys Race

Assumption defended their Great American Race of Champions team title even after a spring and fall with injury and slow recovery.  Senior Emily Bean led the group with a 12th finish followed by Kenzley Defler in 26th.  The big news was the return of 2012 Class AAA State XC Champion Bailey Davis.  Davis rolled in for 28th place in 18:55 in her first varsity action since Nike Cross Nationals last December.

Assumption's pack mentality stayed as they had Kate Crawford and Abbie Wright in 38th and 39th.  Their score of 95 beat Blacksburg (VA) by 1 point to win.  Senior Katherine Receveur (2012 AAA 800m Champion) is still out for Assumption this season.

Bowling Green frosh Madisyn Peeples was 2nd overall with a new PR of 17:57.6.  This is her first time in the sub 18 club.  She is now the 13th girl ever in the 17s from Kentucky.

Class AAA #1 Patrick Gregory was the top Kentucky runner in 16th overall with a 15:29.3.
